A Journey of Transformation

For decades, David P. Cross served as a public defender in the high-stakes environment of the Philadelphia courts. Day in and day out, he fought relentlessly for clients facing immense challenges, navigating an often unforgiving justice system.
However, the continuous pressure and emotional weight of the work eventually took its toll. Experiencing severe burnout, David made the difficult decision to step away from the practice of law to pursue a different path, seeking balance and clarity away from the courtroom.
It was during this decade-long hiatus that he deeply engaged with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. Applying its timeless wisdom to his own modern struggles allowed him to reduce his stress, understand his true purpose, and find genuine fulfillment.
Armed with renewed energy and a profound sense of clarity, David eventually returned to his work as a public defender. Today, he is the founder of New Angkor Wat, a nonprofit that teaches the Bhagavad Gita to CEOs, doctors, lawyers, and incarcerated individuals. With humor and humility, David makes ancient wisdom accessible to modern readers, blending historical insights with practical lessons for everyday life.
